Fox Information Settles Dominion Lawsuit for $787.5 Million

Dominion had accused Fox and its guardian firm, Fox Corp, of damaging its enterprise by airing baseless claims that its voting machines had been used to rig the 2020 presidential election in favour of then-candidate Joe Biden and towards former President Donald Trump, a Republican. Dominion was looking for $1.6 billion in damages relating to those false statements.

The settlement was reached forward of a looming six-week trial in Delaware. In a serious pretrial ruling on 31 March, Superior Court docket Choose Eric Davis dominated that Dominion had efficiently confirmed that each one 20 statements talked about in its lawsuit towards Fox had been false.

Fox acknowledged the end result in an announcement on 18 April following the settlement: “We acknowledge the Court docket’s rulings discovering sure claims about Dominion to be false.”

Although this case is now settled, Fox Information faces one other defamation lawsuit from voting know-how firm Smartmatic for $2.7 billion. Authorized specialists speculate that Smartmatic might intend to make use of the Dominion settlement as ammunition throughout negotiations, proving Fox’s willingness to accept massive sums.
